Legal Counsel

About the role

Lendi Group is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide practical, commercially focused legal support across its diverse business, including mortgage broking, lending, buyer’s agent services, franchising, technology and AI initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clear legal advice to help teams navigate regulatory requirements and make informed decisions.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts such as supplier, technology and distribution agreements.
• Advise on AI‑enabled tools, data privacy and emerging technology matters.
• Support new product development, regulatory change projects and system improvements.
• Manage legal and regulatory risk, identifying emerging issues and ensuring compliance with consumer credit, AML/CTF, competition, franchising, privacy and employment laws.

Required profile

• Legal experience gained in‑house or in private practice, preferably within financial services, fintech or a regulated industry.
• A law degree and a current practising certificate.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to translate complex legal issues into practical advice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Ability to identify legal and regulatory risks and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
• Proactive, organised and collaborative approach to managing competing priorities.
