Legal Counsel

About the role

Woods Bagot is seeking an experienced lawyer to join its small, well‑established legal team. The role will support the firm’s Australian, New Zealand and Middle East operations, providing commercial and regulatory advice across a variety of design and construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including consultancy, design and construction agreements.
• Monitor regulatory changes that may affect the business and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.
• Provide legal guidance on employment, privacy, intellectual property, dispute resolution and management of legal proceedings.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and act as a commercially‑focused legal partner.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of legal processes and best practices.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with several years of experience in commercial contract work, preferably within a multinational consulting or design environment.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory frameworks.
• Strong commercial acumen and the capacity to advise senior leaders.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
