Legal Counsel

About the role

AustralianSuper is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal advice across its business units and help manage legal risk. Working under senior lawyers, you will support the Fund in a complex regulatory and operating environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on regulatory and workplace investigations.
• Advise on commercial, industrial and regulatory disputes, including matters before tribunals and courts.
• Offer guidance on employment law and workplace relations issues.
• Develop and review precedent documents and ensure compliance with legislative obligations.
• Assist in the review and development of policies, processes and procedures.
• Monitor legislative, policy and case law developments and deliver related advice.
• Manage matters briefed to external lawyers and present advice with a commercial focus.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree.
• Current Victorian Legal Practising Certificate.
• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in employment law/workplace relations, commercial dispute resolution and/or regulatory investigations.
• Strong organisational ability to manage multiple matters concurrently.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and drafting capabilities.
• Well‑developed negotiation, research and problem‑solving skills.
• Collaborative approach with commercially focused legal advice.
