Legal Counsel

About the role

Beach Energy is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide high‑quality legal advice and support across its exploration, production and corporate functions. The role works closely with internal stakeholders to manage legal risks while enabling business outcomes and contributes to key projects, transactions and operational activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on joint venture, contractual, regulatory and commercial matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including service, consultancy and confidentiality arrangements.
• Support acquisitions, divestments and other corporate transactions.
• Assist with land access, regulatory approvals and tenement‑related legal matters.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise stakeholders.
• Contribute to risk management processes, identifying legal risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Support dispute resolution activities and liaise with external legal providers as required.

Required profile

• Experience in commercial legal practice, preferably within the energy, resources or infrastructure sectors.
• Strong background in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Ability to deliver timely, pragmatic legal advice to support business decisions.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.
• Sound commercial acumen and understanding of business drivers.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Current Australian practising certificate as a legal practitioner.

Required skills

• Current Australian practising certificate.
• Proficiency in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
• Knowledge of energy sector regulations and joint venture structures.
