Legal Counsel & Compliance Program Coordinator

About the role

We are looking for a commercially‑focused Legal Counsel & Compliance Program Coordinator to join JBS Australia’s Legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide practical legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters while leading key compliance, ethics and governance programmes across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver commercial legal advice, draft and negotiate contracts, and support business units on risk‑related issues.
• Coordinate and monitor compliance programmes such as Modern Slavery, Privacy, FIRB, Ethics & Compliance and SEDEX.
• Partner with senior leaders to influence decisions that affect business outcomes and risk management.
• Contribute to strategic projects, continuous‑improvement initiatives and governance reviews.
• Provide guidance on governance, risk and regulatory matters to ensure alignment with corporate policies.

Required profile

• Current unrestricted Australian practising certificate.
• Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a law firm or commercial legal environment.
• Strong commercial contracting, advisory and negotiation capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
• Solution‑oriented mindset with sound commercial judgement and strong organisational skills.
• Genuine interest in compliance, governance and continuous improvement.
