Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Applied Artificial Intelligence

About the role

The University of Queensland invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Applied Artificial Intelligence. You will join a collaborative academic community and help build a joint Centre of Excellence in Data Science and AI with the Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology in India.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent research programme in AI and data science, securing competitive funding.
• Deliver high‑quality teaching, including course design, curriculum development and assessment for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
• Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, providing mentorship and fostering a collaborative research environment.
• Build and maintain partnerships with industry, government, and international institutions, contributing to university governance and external engagement.
• Occasionally travel to the Thapar Institute campus in Patiala, India, to support joint activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications and successful research grant acquisition.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development at the university level.
• Experience supervising research students and mentoring early‑career researchers.

Required skills

• Expertise in AI research methodologies and data‑driven analytics.
• Ability to develop interdisciplinary research collaborations.
• Proficiency in academic leadership and service activities.
