Lecturer or Senior Lecturer – Operations Research

About the role

The University of Melbourne invites applications for a continuing, full‑time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position in Operations Research within the School of Mathematics and Statistics. You will lead an independent, high‑quality research programme and contribute to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research, publish in leading journals, and present at conferences.
• Secure external research funding and supervise MSc and PhD students.
• Design, deliver and assess undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including curriculum development.
• Provide academic mentoring and support diverse student groups.
• Contribute to school, university and disciplinary service and leadership activities.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent research degree in mathematics, statistics, operations research or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated research excellence with a strong publication record and emerging or established international reputation.
• Evidence of ability to attract competitive research funding and build collaborative networks.
• Experience in teaching and supervising students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Commitment to collegial service, professional activity and engagement with diverse communities.
