Lecturer - Medical Sciences, Immunology and Bacteriology

About the role

The School of Medical Sciences, recognised as a leading centre for medical science education, is seeking a Lecturer in Medical Sciences, Immunology and Bacteriology. The role contributes to teaching, learning and educational leadership, and to the design, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of high-quality educational experiences. It is a full-time, fixed-term position until October 2031.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake independent teaching in Medical Sciences, Immunology and Bacteriology, contributing to educational design, delivery and outcomes.
• Design and deliver units of study, learning activities and curriculum content, and contribute to multidisciplinary work-integrated learning units.
• Develop and refine research skills under the supervision of more senior staff, and conduct research or scholarly activity independently or in a team.
• Supervise research students in line with School, Faculty and University expectations.
• Innovate education practice using contemporary pedagogical knowledge, and carry out academic administration.
• Mentor less experienced academic staff and coordinate their activities.
• Engage beyond the university through conferences, seminars, outreach and professional networks.

Required profile

• Doctorate or PhD in a relevant field.
• Demonstrated understanding of Medical Sciences, Immunology and/or Bacteriology.
• Experience conducting original research and scholarly activity.
• Teaching experience, including team teaching and delivery across varied settings, and success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching initiatives.
• Experience supervising or mentoring students or colleagues.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, excellent communication skills, and commitment to innovative teaching and continuous improvement.
• Unrestricted work rights in Australia; visa sponsorship is not available.
