About the role
The Australian Maritime College (AMC) at the University of Tasmania is seeking a full‑time Lecturer in Maritime Engineering to join the Centre for Maritime Engineering and Hydrodynamics in Launceston. The position combines undergraduate and postgraduate teaching with industry‑linked research in naval architecture and ocean engineering.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate maritime engineering courses.
- Develop and update curriculum and support laboratory and project‑based learning.
- Conduct applied research that addresses real‑world maritime challenges and publish findings.
- Secure external competitive funding and supervise higher‑degree research students.
- Engage with maritime industry partners and provide consultancy services.
- Utilise AMC’s advanced simulation centres, research laboratories and specialist training infrastructure.
- Travel interstate or internationally as required and work occasional weekends.
Required profile
- Demonstrated ability to deliver effective teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Proven record of conducting industry‑connected research in maritime engineering.
- Willingness to secure research funding and supervise research students.
- Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Flexibility to travel and work occasional weekend periods.
