Lecturer - Libraries, Archives, Records and Information Science

About the role

The School of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry (MCASI) at Curtin University is seeking a Lecturer (Academic Level B) in Libraries, Archives, Records and Information Science (LARIS). Based at the Bentley campus in Perth, this permanent Teaching and Research position covers Library and Information Science and Recordkeeping and Archives, supporting postgraduate teaching, unit coordination and research.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver postgraduate teaching and coordinate units in Library and Information Science and Recordkeeping and Archives, including assessment, curriculum development and ongoing improvement of teaching.
• Develop a research programme, publish in refereed journals, seek competitive research funding and share findings at conferences.
• Build relationships with industry, national and state organisations and research end-users.
• Support work-integrated learning and supervise PhD and master's research students.
• Contribute to academic service, professional and community engagement.

Required profile

• Doctoral qualification and expertise in Library and Information Science, Archives and/or Recordkeeping.
• High-level teaching skills, a reflective approach to teaching and a record of contributions to the scholarship of teaching.
• Established research outputs in refereed journals and a history of successful competitive grant applications.
• Ability to supervise higher degree research students and experience in unit coordination.
• Permanent work rights in Australia; successful applicants undergo police clearance and reference checks.
• Desirable: professional experience as a librarian, archivist, information scientist or records manager.
