About the role

The School of Social Science at the University of Queensland is seeking an enthusiastic archaeologist to join its St Lucia campus as a Lecturer in Archaeology. This permanent, full‑time role combines high‑quality teaching with a vibrant research agenda focused on lithic technology and field‑based archaeology.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, deliver and assess undergraduate courses across Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs.
• Design and coordinate curriculum, ensuring alignment with university teaching standards.
• Establish and lead an independent research program, securing external funding and publishing in reputable journals.
• Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, providing mentorship and academic guidance.
• Contribute to departmental service, committees, and community engagement initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD in Archaeology.
• Demonstrated expertise in lithic technological analysis.
• Active field‑based research program that complements existing staff interests.
• Experience with applied digital spatial methods (e.g., GIS) in archaeological research.
