Lead Product Designer

About the role

Vanguard is seeking a Lead Product Designer to shape the experience of its investment products across Australia. In this senior individual‑contributor position you will define future‑state visions, influence product strategy and drive measurable outcomes for clients and the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end design for complex, strategically important experience areas spanning multiple products, services and journeys.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, researchers and senior stakeholders to translate business strategy and customer insights into accessible, coherent and scalable experiences.
• Define and apply qualitative and quantitative research, analytics and experimentation methods to surface opportunities and guide decision‑making.
• Communicate design strategy, evidence and solutions to senior leaders, making trade‑offs understandable and championing customer‑centric outcomes.
• Build strong cross‑functional relationships, resolve dependencies across products and create momentum around a shared experience direction without formal authority.

Required profile

• Senior individual‑contributor with a track record of influencing product direction and investment decisions.
• Strong ability to synthesize evidence, frame hypotheses and steer teams toward data‑driven outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting design rationale to senior stakeholders.
• Experience working in regulated industries such as finance or investment management.
