About the role
As a Lead Electrical Engineer – Buildings in Perth, you will lead the delivery of electrical building services designs across a diverse portfolio that includes defence, healthcare, data centres, resources and commercial developments. You will work within Aurecon's growing Buildings team, shaping innovative, safe and sustainable solutions while supporting the development of emerging engineers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead electrical building services design from concept through detailed design and construction support, covering power distribution, lighting, backup power, communications, security and related systems.
- Undertake engineering calculations, design reviews and technical assessments to ensure safety, compliance and suitability.
- Collaborate with architects, structural, civil, mechanical, ICT, hydraulics, fire and sustainability specialists to create integrated solutions.
- Contribute to project planning, resource allocation and design budget management to deliver quality outcomes efficiently.
- Engage with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, clients and external stakeholders to resolve challenges and communicate design intent.
- Mentor junior engineers, designers and drafters, building capability across the team.
- Support proposals, bids and client engagement activities to grow Aurecon’s presence in strategic markets.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- Approximately 6+ years of experience delivering electrical building services design projects in a consulting, engineering or design environment.
- Proven experience on complex building projects such as defence, healthcare, data centres, commercial developments or resources infrastructure.
- Strong technical capability across low‑voltage power distribution, essential and non‑essential systems, backup generation, UPS systems, earthing, protection and coordination, and compliance‑based design.
- Experience in lighting design, including emergency lighting.
