About the role

Under supervision, you will conduct legal research and provide high‑quality advice on a range of public law matters, including administrative law, statutory interpretation, human rights, discrimination, planning and environment law, as well as freedom of information and privacy. You will also play an active role in managing litigation such as merits review, personal injury, property damage claims, coronial inquests and judicial review.

Key responsibilities

• Research and analyse legal issues across multiple public law domains.
• Prepare and deliver clear legal advice to internal clients and stakeholders.
• Assist in the conduct and management of litigation and dispute resolution matters.
• Support strategic legal advice and client‑focused service delivery.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to achieve strong outcomes for government.

Required profile

• Australian lawyer holding or eligible for a practising certificate under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria).
• Demonstrated ability to provide legal advice and/or manage litigation in at least two of the listed practice areas.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Team‑oriented, resilient and able to adapt to changing priorities.
