Lawyer – Professional Conduct

About the role

The Legal Services Commission is seeking a Lawyer to join its Professional Conduct team. You will assess, investigate and review complaints about legal practitioners and recommend appropriate actions to the Commissioner, supporting the Commission’s regulatory functions under the Legal Profession Act 2007.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior legal professionals and members of the public.
• Assess, investigate and review complaints concerning lawyers, law‑practice employees and unlawful operators.
• Recommend actions for the Commissioner, including initiating investigations where misconduct is identified.
• Assist other Commission teams, such as Litigation, in preparing matters when required.
• Suggest improvements to policies, procedures and work practices to enhance service standards.
• Contribute to research, policy development and educational activities.

Required profile

• Adherence to the Australian Solicitor Conduct Rules and high ethical standards.
• Eligibility for appointment as an investigator under the Legal Profession Act 2007.
• Proven ability to deliver high‑quality outcomes and manage projects with competing deadlines.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
