Lawyer – Bendigo

About the role

Victoria Legal Aid is seeking two dedicated lawyers to join its Bendigo team. You will provide high‑quality legal services across criminal law, family violence, civil law and other legal‑aid areas, advocating for clients in court and offering advice and casework.

Key responsibilities

• Advocate for Legal Aid clients in criminal, family violence and civil matters.
• Provide legal advice, case management and court representation.
• Engage in negotiation and dispute resolution on behalf of clients.
• Travel across the Loddon‑Campaspe region for community outreach and outreach events.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve service delivery for the community.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to advocate effectively and deliver legal advice.
• Knowledge or practical experience in criminal law, family violence and other legal‑aid practice areas.
• High interpersonal and communication skills for liaising with clients, staff and external stakeholders.
• Proven teamwork and collaborative abilities.
• A current Australian practising certificate authorising work as a government legal practitioner in Victoria (mandatory).

• Salary range $90,871 – $104,924 per year plus super.
