Lawyer / Associate – Statutory Compensation Management

About the role

MinterEllison is seeking a Lawyer or Associate to join its Statutory Compensation Management team in Melbourne. You will provide advice and representation in matters before the Magistrates’ Court, County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria, working on behalf of WorkSafe Victoria and the Transport Accident Commission.

Key responsibilities

• Advise and represent clients in statutory compensation matters before Victorian courts.
• Manage statutory recovery claims for WorkSafe Victoria and the Transport Accident Commission.
• Handle day‑to‑day litigation file management, ensuring timely and technically accurate advice.
• Collaborate with senior mentors and team members to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and file management processes.

Required profile

• Passionate and commercially astute with a genuine interest in statutory compensation law.
• Strong client and file management skills, delivering advice promptly.
• Mature, self‑motivated and able to take responsibility for litigation files.
• Team‑oriented, valuing collegiality and collaboration.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act, Work Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act, and Transport Accident Act 1986.
• Experience in related areas such as insurance, personal injuries litigation, or HR/IR is advantageous.
