Laboratory Technician (Pilgangoora)

About the role

SGS Australia, a provider of testing, inspection and certification services, is looking for a Laboratory Technician for its Pilgangoora, WA site. This is a permanent full-time position with a remuneration of $90k-$95k per annum and an 8/6/7/7 FIFO roster.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare samples so they can be fully analysed, and understand the processes for XRF, ICP-OES and ICP-MS analysis
• Carry out wet chemistry, including preparation and validation of analytical standards
• Maintain and keep clean analytical and sample preparation equipment
• Deliver quality sample results to customers and comply with onsite HSE standards
• Understand assay methods, sample types, mine site sampling techniques, and quality control and quality assurance
• Attend safety meetings, give detailed handover reports between shifts, meet SGS Australasian KPIs and follow the Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct

Required profile

• Chemistry qualification or equivalent demonstrated experience
• Current driver's licence
• Previous experience in a minesite laboratory environment
• Previous FIFO remote work desired; previous LM2 experience and previous QC of analysis results also desired
• Teamwork, organisation and efficiency

Required skills

• XRF basic fault repair and error diagnosis
• Wet chemistry and analytical standard preparation
• Quality control of analysis results
