Laboratory Assistant/Technician – Sample Preparation

About the role

Eurofins is seeking a casual Laboratory Assistant/Technician to join its Murarrie, Brisbane facility. The role focuses on sample preparation for soil and water analyses, supporting fast‑paced laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort and log soil and water samples, assign tests in the LIMS system and prepare batch sheets using Microsoft Excel.
• Weigh samples, transfer subsamples, extract analytes and ensure traceability of prepared vials.
• Perform quality control tests, prioritize urgent samples and handle quarantine samples according to AQIS procedures.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, replenish consumables and calibrate equipment such as syringes, steppers and solvent dispensers.

Required profile

• Year 12 level education with good understanding of chemistry and mathematics; a science degree is advantageous but not required.
• No prior experience mandatory, though any laboratory experience is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and a hands‑on, ‘doer’ attitude.
• Must be currently based in Brisbane and eligible to work in Australia.
