Kitchen Assistant

About the role

IL Lago, a new Italian restaurant in Mango Hill, Queensland, is opening in early March and is looking for kitchen assistants. The role is part-time or casual, and juniors are welcome to apply. The kitchen assistant must manage their time well, complete duties on time and comply with all food health and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all food preparation areas to established hygiene standards.
• Wash and store cooking appliances, utensils, cutting boards and dishes properly.
• Assist the cook by washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting and chopping fruit, vegetables, poultry and meat.
• Sweep and mop the kitchen floors and wipe down kitchen walls.
• Help unload delivered food supplies and organize and store them correctly.
• Move ingredients from storage to the kitchen promptly, as instructed by the cook.

Required profile

• Proven experience assisting in kitchens.
• A safe food handler's certificate.
• Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Excellent organization and time management skills, and effective communication.
