Junior IT Systems Administrator / Desktop Support

About the role

This blended infrastructure and support position is roughly 70% systems administration and 30% service‑desk work. It is ideal for candidates with 3–5 years of IT support experience who want to move into infrastructure delivery while keeping hands‑on support skills.

Key responsibilities

• Proactive and reactive monitoring of servers, desktops, Macs, network and security infrastructure.
• Security and application patching across all platforms.
• Maintain backups, perform daily health checks and keep documentation up to date.
• Deliver infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
• Act as Level 2/3 escalation point for server, virtualisation, storage, network and cloud issues.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities.
• Provide first‑ and second‑level support for staff in person, by phone and email.
• Own tickets end‑to‑end using the IT ticketing system.
• Support PCs, Macs, cloud services, printers, AV equipment and VPN/wired/wireless networks.

Required profile

• 3–5 years’ experience in an IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft networking technologies.
• Exposure to server, virtualisation, storage, network and cloud technologies is a plus.
• Experience building, installing and troubleshooting Apple Macs.
• Good understanding of monitoring, patching, backups and IT security best practices.
• Excellent communication and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to take ownership, prioritise work and stay calm under pressure.
• Enthusiastic, curious and eager to learn.
