Junior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Caterpillar is looking for a Junior DevOps Engineer to join its operations team supporting the MineStar product suite. The role focuses on building, maintaining, and improving automation across build, test, deployment, and infrastructure workflows while learning from senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in building and maintaining automation for build, test, deployment, and infrastructure pipelines.
• Support Agile teams in adopting DevOps practices and improving delivery efficiency.
• Collaborate with developers and QA engineers to maintain CI/CD pipelines and environments.
• Identify and resolve issues in deployment and automation processes.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis for incidents and help implement fixes.
• Work with cross‑functional teams to understand dependencies and coordinate deliveries.
• Follow and contribute to established DevOps standards, best practices, and reusable templates.
• Maintain documentation such as runbooks, procedures, and automation designs in Confluence and Azure DevOps.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience or equivalent internship/project experience in DevOps, software engineering, or IT operations.
• Basic understanding of scripting or programming (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Basic knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and Agile practices.
