About the role

Compass is looking for a motivated Junior Cyber Security Engineer to join its Technology team in Melbourne. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience protecting a fast‑growing school‑management platform, working side‑by‑side with senior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and triage security alerts, escalating significant findings.
• Run vulnerability scans and support remediation across applications and cloud environments.
• Investigate phishing, malware, and suspicious activity, documenting outcomes.
• Assist senior engineers with incident response activities.
• Maintain security documentation, runbooks, and knowledge resources.
• Support compliance tasks such as evidence gathering and access reviews.
• Stay informed about emerging threats and share insights with the team.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career professional with a strong curiosity for cyber security.
• Understanding of core security concepts and common threat vectors.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals, operating systems, and at least one cloud platform.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Eagerness to learn from senior team members and grow within the field.
