Junior Accountant

About the role

Panetta McGrath Lawyers is seeking a Junior Accountant to own the day‑to‑day finance function in its modern Perth CBD office. The role offers flexible hours, including school‑hour arrangements for the right candidate, and provides full training on trust accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end accounts payable and receivable.
• Perform daily banking, credit‑card reconciliations and cash‑flow monitoring.
• Process payroll and ensure compliance with PAYG and superannuation obligations.
• Handle trust account transactions, payments and reconciliations, maintaining compliance with legislative requirements.
• Prepare BAS, IAS, PAYG and superannuation reports.
• Assist with month‑end reporting, billing, debtor management and overall financial administration.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, clients and external advisors to support finance operations.
• Identify and drive process improvements across the finance function.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of bookkeeping experience.
• Strong knowledge of reconciliation, payroll, BAS, PAYG and superannuation.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and maintain high confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Familiarity with legal practice management systems such as Actionstep, Smokeball, LEAP or Clio (advantageous).
