Japanese-Speaking Junior Assistant Accountant

About the role

A well-established international organisation with operations across several countries is recruiting a Japanese-speaking junior assistant accountant for its Brisbane office, which supports regional business and works closely with overseas stakeholders. The role suits someone early in their career who wants to build a long-term career in accounting and finance, with a supportive and professional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process financial transactions, maintain accurate records and handle invoicing, payments and related documentation
• Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable and assist with sales-related administration
• Prepare monthly financial reports and reconciliations, and assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
• Help prepare financial statements and audit documentation, and support internal controls and financial processes
• Answer enquiries from internal and external stakeholders, liaise across business functions and translate between English and Japanese where needed
• Prepare meeting notes and reports, coordinate meetings and support the wider finance team

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or nearing completion
• 0-2 years of accounting, accounts, finance administration or bookkeeping experience
• Native-level Japanese and strong written and spoken English
• Attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Comfortable in a multicultural, internationally focused environment

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
• Experience with Xero, NetSuite, MYOB, SAP or similar is advantageous
