IT Systems and Security Administrator

About the role

The IT Systems and Security Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring the secure, reliable, and effective operation of the National Council Secretariat’s IT infrastructure, cloud services, and end‑user technology environment. The role provides day‑to‑day technical support, administers Microsoft 365 and endpoint management tools, and supports cyber‑security practices and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑line IT support to staff, troubleshooting hardware, operating systems and software issues.
• Administer Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.
• Provision, configure and manage Windows devices, handling enrolment and user onboarding.
• Maintain clear technical and user documentation for systems and processes.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and service providers to align support requests, system improvements and security activities.
• Support cyber‑security initiatives such as vulnerability management, phishing awareness and compliance with frameworks like the ASD Essential Eight.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in IT systems administration, service desk or technical support.
• Proactive, well‑organised and service‑oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Genuine interest in developing systems‑administration and cyber‑security capabilities.
• Familiarity with generative AI tools and their appropriate use is highly regarded.

Required skills

• Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID, Intune, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive).
• Windows device provisioning and endpoint management.
• Hardware troubleshooting, operating system support and software troubleshooting.
• Identity management and user onboarding.
• Knowledge of cyber‑security principles, ASD Essential Eight, vulnerability management, phishing awareness and secure access administration.
• Experience with generative AI tools for productivity and documentation.
