IT Support Technician

About the role

Silentium Defence is looking for an IT Support Technician to be the primary point of contact for all technology matters. You will manage daily IT operations, deliver prompt support to staff and contractors, and help maintain a secure and reliable infrastructure in a fast‑growing defence environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide end‑to‑end IT and AV support to all employees and contractors.
• Prepare, provision and maintain IT equipment, user accounts and access rights.
• Respond quickly to help‑desk tickets, resolve issues or escalate when necessary.
• Create user‑friendly support documentation such as wikis and how‑to guides.
• Troubleshoot system and network problems across Windows, Linux, macOS and mobile devices.
• Ensure backups are performed and tested in line with disaster‑recovery requirements.
• Administer licensing and configuration for Microsoft 365, Atlassian and other key applications.
• Manage relationships with vendors for IT and network hardware.
• Develop and maintain cyber‑security policies, controls and risk‑mitigation measures.
• Report regularly on system performance, progress and key metrics.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in IT, computer science or a related discipline.
• Australian citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 security clearance.
• Relevant qualification or experience in cyber security.
• Demonstrated ability to manage Linux and Windows workstations.
• Experience applying cyber‑security best practices and complying with frameworks such as DISP and NIST.
