IT Operations Engineer

About the role

Bidwells is seeking an experienced IT Operations Engineer to support and improve its IT systems and infrastructure across all sites. You will play a key part in enhancing service quality, strengthening security, and fostering a collaborative technical culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead at least one core business system, provide coverage for team members, and drive project design and service improvements.
• Manage infrastructure and systems operations, including patch management, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Intune, HubSpot, MRI Suite and Citrix.
• Administer system renewals and upgrades in line with Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001 and internal policies.
• Identify risks, maintain the IT risk register and develop mitigation plans.
• Coordinate with the MSP to keep LAN/WAN and hosted environments up‑to‑date.
• Provide technical support through incident, change and problem management, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents using Microsoft Defender, SIEM tools and maintain a secure‑by‑design environment.
• Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing and the development of a strong security culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Operations Engineer or similar role.
• Strong technical leadership and project delivery skills.
• Solid understanding of security best practices and vulnerability management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external vendors.
