IT Field and Support Technician

About the role

As an IT Field Service and Support Technician you will be the hands‑on expert ensuring that essential technology remains operational across remote Indigenous communities, retail stores and corporate offices in Northern Australia. You will combine field‑based problem solving with office support, travelling by light aircraft and 4WD to install, maintain and troubleshoot a range of systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install and maintain POS systems, CCTV cameras, NVRs and networking equipment.
• Support end‑user devices including desktops, laptops and associated software.
• Perform basic network resolutions such as port testing, cable re‑termination and WAP diagnostics.
• Assist the Help Desk using ITIL‑aligned incident and asset management processes when not on site.
• Maintain accurate hardware configuration records and contribute to the internal knowledge base.
• Provide clear, high‑quality customer service to non‑technical users.
• Travel regularly to remote communities to conduct maintenance, troubleshooting and new installations.

Required profile

• Technically proficient and comfortable working in challenging field environments.
• Proven hands‑on experience with computer hardware, software and troubleshooting.
• Previous experience in a Service Desk or Helpdesk environment.
• Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote locations.
• Experience in remote Indigenous communities or retail environments is highly regarded.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency, a current driver’s licence and ability to obtain required clearances.
