IS/IT/Cyber Systems Engineer

About the role

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated IS/IT/Cyber Systems Engineer to join the Sydney Metro West project team. Based in Sydney, you will design, configure, deploy and support IT and cyber infrastructure across multiple rail projects.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product line and system engineering inputs into detailed IT system designs.
• Define equipment specifications for servers, storage and end‑user devices and support procurement activities.
• Design and implement virtualisation environments, including Proxmox clusters for OCC, BOCC and station sites.
• Configure and deploy compute, storage and virtual platforms, and develop cyber solutions for the OT environment.
• Support integration, testing, commissioning and early‑operations technical support.
• Maintain design consistency, configuration control and documentation across the project.

Required profile

• Experience in IT systems or infrastructure engineering within complex, distributed environments.
• Strong knowledge of virtualisation platforms, clustering and distributed systems.
• Understanding of resilient, scalable IT architecture principles.
• Relevant qualifications in Information Technology, Systems Engineering or similar.
