Internal Auditor – Senior Consultant/Manager

About the role

Axiom Associates is seeking experienced internal audit professionals to join its consultancy practice. In this senior‑consultant or manager role you will move beyond checklist‑driven audits to deliver risk‑based, insight‑led assurance for government agencies and private organisations across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or co‑lead end‑to‑end internal audit engagements, including compliance reviews and performance audits.
• Design risk‑based audit scopes, testing strategies and methodologies aligned with IIA standards.
• Engage senior client stakeholders, challenge assumptions and translate findings into clear, strategic recommendations.
• Mentor junior team members throughout fieldwork and reporting phases.
• Contribute to business development activities, proposals and practice growth.
• Help shape Axiom’s internal audit methodology and service offering.

Required profile

• 4–10+ years of experience in internal audit, risk, or assurance.
• Proven track record of leading audit engagements or managing key components of projects.
• Strong judgment, credibility and the ability to influence senior decision‑makers.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IIA standards and risk‑based audit methodology.
• Experience assessing governance, risk management and control frameworks.
• Ability to produce concise, high‑quality audit reports.
