Internal Auditor – Full‑time

About the role

The University of Sydney is seeking two full‑time Internal Auditors to join its Internal Audit team on the Camperdown Campus. You will provide independent assurance, risk management and investigative support across a complex higher‑education environment, helping the university achieve its strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Build and continuously improve internal audit services in line with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF).
• Plan and execute risk‑based internal audits and reviews across university activities, systems and processes.
• Collaborate with senior audit staff to prioritise work, adapt to stakeholder needs and manage audit timelines.
• Leverage data‑analytics and visualisation tools to enhance audit planning, fieldwork and reporting.
• Develop clear, practical recommendations to close control gaps, reduce risk and improve processes.
• Draft high‑quality audit reports that drive measurable improvements.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification essential (preferably Accounting, Data Analytics or Commerce).
• Professional certification such as CA, CPA or CIA is desirable.
• Valid National Police Check.
• Experience in large, complex organisations (higher education or public sector valued).
• Proven ability to use data‑driven insights in audit work.

What we offer

• Base salary starting from $117,133 per year.
