Industrial Hygienist

About the role

The Occupational Hygienist will lead the Occupational Hygiene program for a self‑sufficient facility near Alice Springs, ensuring compliance with US and Australian safety, health and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain procedures, processes and permits for noise, heavy metals, asbestos, heat stress, dust, chemical exposure and non‑ionizing radiation.
• Conduct occupational hygiene assessments, communicate findings, and drive corrective actions.
• Deliver toolbox talks and internal training on hearing conservation, PPE use, air monitoring and hazardous chemicals.
• Maintain and calibrate hygiene equipment, coordinate with NATA‑accredited labs, and manage vendor relationships.
• Investigate workplace incidents, document findings and implement corrective measures.

Required profile

• Minimum 3‑5 years experience in occupational hygiene.
• U.S. citizen with TS/SCI clearance or Australian citizen able to obtain NV1 clearance.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene, Asbestos, Environmental Science or related field.
• Valid driver’s licence; construction induction (White Card) and ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
