ICT Systems Administrator – 6 Month Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced ICT Systems Administrator on a six‑month contract to join a high‑performing technology team supporting a public sector organisation in Melbourne’s CBD. The role focuses on ensuring the reliability, security and performance of core ICT systems while contributing to ongoing infrastructure improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 3 support for core systems and act as an escalation point for technical issues.
• Support and maintain Microsoft 365, Azure and Windows Server environments.
• Manage virtualised infrastructure, system backups and recovery processes.
• Contribute to infrastructure projects and system enhancements.
• Support endpoint management tools such as Intune and SCCM.
• Maintain security, compliance and best‑practice standards.
• Coach junior team members and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Systems Administrator or senior support role.
• Strong background with Microsoft technologies including Azure AD, M365, Exchange Online and Active Directory.
• Exposure to virtualization platforms such as VMware and backup solutions like Veeam.
• Experience with Intune, SCCM and monitoring tools.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Awareness of security frameworks and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across teams.
• Experience in a professional services or regulated environment is a plus.
