HV Electrician – Technician Maintenance

About the role

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced HV Electrician to join the CHPP maintenance team. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of high‑voltage electrical systems across a range of mineral processing equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain CHPP electrical systems through inspections, preventive maintenance and fault‑finding on screens, centrifuges, conveyors, pumps, thickeners, flotation circuits, feeders and related fixed‑plant equipment.
• Support plant reliability by identifying defects, implementing corrective actions and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform high‑voltage operations including switching, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting in line with site HV procedures.
• Ensure compliance with site safety management systems, electrical standards and statutory regulations, executing safe isolations and controlled maintenance activities.
• Document maintenance activities by recording electrical performance data, defects and improvements for reliability engineering and operational planning.

Required profile

• Current Queensland Electrical Licence with a strong commitment to safe, compliant electrical work.
• Experience in CHPP, fixed‑plant, mineral processing or heavy‑industrial electrical maintenance.
• Proven ability to carry out complex process‑plant isolations and work safely on fixed‑plant systems.
• Qualifications or experience in High Voltage Switching & Access, or the ability to obtain them.
