Humanities & Social Sciences Teacher (Full‑time)

About the role

Newman Senior High School is seeking a dedicated Humanities and Social Sciences teacher for a permanent full‑time position. The role starts as soon as possible and is part of a recruitment pilot that streamlines the application process for teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum for secondary students.
• Align teaching practices with Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) standards.
• Contribute to the school’s values – Care and Compassion, Respect and Responsibility – and promote The Newman Way.
• Engage with community partners such as the Pilbara Education Partnership and local businesses for workplace learning opportunities.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development and assessment processes.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with experience in secondary Humanities and Social Sciences.
• Willingness to use the mandatory CV template and respond to two AITSL domains at application stage.
• Commitment to the school’s values and to fostering an inclusive, respectful learning environment.
• Ability to start promptly and work full‑time on‑site in Newman.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Australian Curriculum for Humanities and Social Sciences.
• Familiarity with AITSL teaching standards and assessment practices.
