Hub Leader - Wind
gevernova
Job description
About the role
The Wind Services Hub Leader is accountable for the safe, reliable and commercially disciplined operation and maintenance of multiple GE Vernova wind farms within an assigned Australian hub. Reporting to the Services Director, the role leads Site Managers and their teams to deliver turbine availability, maintenance execution, customer outcomes and contractual performance. It also acts as an escalation point for significant operational, safety, people and customer matters.
Key responsibilities
- Safety, environmental and regulatory leadership: champion a safety-first culture, ensure Life Saving Rules, risk assessments, SWMS/JSA, LOTO and permit systems are followed, and oversee incident reporting and investigation.
- Multi-site operations: govern operation and maintenance of assigned wind farms, run daily and weekly operating reviews, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, major component works and planned outages.
- People leadership: lead, coach and develop Site Managers, manage workforce planning, recruitment, training and performance, and promote collaboration across dispersed teams.
- Customer and contractual management: oversee delivery against service agreements and SLAs, partner with Customer Performance Managers, and lead escalation of customer concerns and contractual disputes.
- Financial accountability: own hub-level performance against budget and cost targets, anticipate cost exposure from downtime and unplanned work, and control overtime, on-call and procurement approvals.
- Continuous improvement: standardise planning and review routines across sites, drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and report concisely to the Services Director.
Required profile
- Demonstrated leadership experience in wind farm O&M, power generation, utilities, industrial field services or a comparable asset-intensive environment.
- Proven ability to lead Site Managers or multi-disciplinary teams across multiple sites, including contractor management.
- Strong knowledge of turbine or comparable electromechanical asset maintenance, reliability and operational planning.
- EHS leadership, risk management and knowledge of Australian regulatory and industrial frameworks.
- Commercial acumen, including budget management, KPI delivery and service-contract obligations.
- Current valid driver's licence, Australian working rights and willingness to travel regularly, including to rural and remote locations, with occasional overnight stays.
Desirable characteristics
- Tertiary qualification in engineering, operations, business or a related discipline, or equivalent technical qualifications and leadership experience.
- Experience managing multiple wind farms or geographically dispersed renewable energy service operations.
- Electrical or mechanical trade background, wind-industry training or relevant technical certification.
- Experience with lean management, daily management systems, ISO, 5S or similar methodologies, and major component programs.
