HR Officer – People & Culture Team

About the role

BMD is seeking an experienced Human Resources Officer to join its People & Culture team at the Port of Brisbane office. Reporting to the HR Manager, you will provide end‑to‑end HR support across multiple operational units, partnering with leaders and employees to deliver effective people solutions in a fast‑paced, project‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full recruitment cycles for blue‑ and white‑collar roles, from advertising to offer management.
• Support managers and employees with HR enquiries, employee‑lifecycle matters, and onboarding activities.
• Coordinate inductions, transfers, promotions, and employee movements.
• Assist with workforce planning, resourcing, and HR reporting across business units.
• Handle employee relations, provide policy guidance, and prepare contracts and HR documentation.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems while ensuring confidentiality.
• Organise training, development activities and support engagement, retention and culture initiatives.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in HR, People & Culture or recruitment, preferably in construction, infrastructure or similar operational settings.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities and build strong stakeholder relationships.
• High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and discretion with confidential information.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience using HR information systems.
