Hotel Manager - Regional Queensland

About the role

An established heritage hotel in Regional Queensland is looking for a hands-on Hotel Manager to run a multifaceted operation covering accommodation, food and beverage, gaming and functions. The role drives profitability, develops a high-performing team and preserves the character of a well-known Australian hotel. The advertised pay is $90,000-$100,000 plus superannuation, with on-site two-bedroom accommodation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations, keeping standards of service, presentation, safety and compliance high.
• Recruit, train, coach, roster and performance-manage the team.
• Keep liquor licensing, responsible gambling, food safety, workplace health and safety and other legal requirements in line.
• Run gaming operations and embed responsible gambling practices.
• Control labour costs, stock, cash handling, operating expenses and capital expenditure.
• Track revenue, profit margins, gaming results, occupancy, wages and stock turnover, and find ways to grow revenue and profitability.
• Develop promotions, marketing initiatives and new business opportunities, and build relationships with customers, community groups, suppliers and partners.
• Oversee functions, entertainment and events, including live music.
• Keep the hotel, motel suites, facilities and back-of-house areas in good order.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a hotel, pub or multifaceted hospitality venue.
• Commercial and financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control and revenue generation.
• Leadership experience recruiting, training and mentoring a diverse team.
• Experience with gaming operations, TAB, Keno, POS systems, CCTV and AV equipment.
• Knowledge of Queensland hospitality legislation, responsible service practices, workplace health and safety and compliance.
• Current Queensland RSA, RSG, RMLV and Approved Manager qualifications, plus Gaming Nomination and CLO certification.
• A Diploma of Hospitality Management or Certificate IV in Hospitality is advantageous.
