Home Education Moderator (Western Australia)

About the role

The Department of Education is building a pool of Home Education Moderators to evaluate and certify home‑based educational programs across the South Metropolitan Region of Western Australia. Moderators will work with families to ensure student progress aligns with the Western Australian Curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Assess educational programs submitted by registered home‑educators.
• Conduct evaluation meetings with families to verify adequate student progress.
• Provide written reports and professional correspondence on program suitability.
• Travel to homes throughout the region to meet with educators.
• Maintain records in line with the School Education Act 1999.

Required profile

• Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent written communication for reports and correspondence.
• Ability to build effective relationships with parents, education professionals and external agencies.
