Home Care Employee - Northern Illawarra (Grade 3 or 4B)

About the role

IRT is looking for a Home Care Employee based in the Northern Illawarra area to support its home care customers with personalised care that promotes their well-being, independence and engagement in activities suited to their health, happiness and interests. The role is Monday to Friday, with some weekends, and hours vary between 7am and 5pm. IRT offers permanent part-time positions for entry-level candidates (Grade 1) and experienced employees (Grades 2, 3 and 4B).

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care, such as showering.
• Cook and prepare food.
• Drive customers to appointments and social engagements.
• Provide companionship.
• Help customers continue to live well and positively in their own home.

Required profile

• Grade 3 or 4B Home Care Employee position.
• Certificate III in Ageing, with at least 500 hours of experience in home care and/or aged care.
• Medication Competency Certificate (required for Grade 4B).
• Full driver's licence and a fully insured car; international licence holders must apply for an Australian licence within 3 months of starting.
• Relevant Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent.
• Current First Aid certificate and CPR, or willingness to obtain them.
• Available to work weekdays.

Required skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; a second language is a bonus.
• Resilience and ability to work independently.
• Empathy and a passion for supporting older Australians.
