Heritage Consultant

About the role

Biosis Australia is seeking a motivated Heritage Consultant for a 12‑month contract at our Port Melbourne office, with strong potential to become permanent. This mid‑level position offers the chance to work on diverse Aboriginal and historical archaeology projects, develop technical expertise, and contribute to meaningful cultural heritage outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse site patterning, land formation processes and artefact survival for Aboriginal and historical sites.
• Prepare Cultural Heritage Management Plans, heritage impact statements and due‑diligence assessments.
• Lead and support fieldwork across a range of archaeological projects.
• Communicate and consult with authorities, communities, clients, landowners and the public.
• Produce technical reports that meet regulatory and client requirements.
• Deliver projects on time, within budget and to client specifications.
• Manage project budgets and variations.
• Stay up‑to‑date with current regulatory requirements and explain them to clients.

Required profile

• Archaeology degree (Honours) or Master’s degree.
• 2‑3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Interest in Aboriginal and/or historical heritage.
• Willingness to work on‑site, travel and stay in remote locations when required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Current, valid driver’s licence.
• Right to work in Australia.
