Heavy Diesel Fitter – Mining Equipment

About the role

Komatsu Australia is looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter to join its Queensland mining operations team. You will work on heavy mobile mining equipment, solving complex mechanical problems in a supportive team that values safety, quality workmanship and continuous learning. The roster is 7 days on, 7 days off, with 12.5-hour shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance, inspections, diagnostics and repairs on Komatsu mining equipment.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical and equipment-related faults.
• Support planned maintenance and equipment reliability activities.
• Use technical manuals, schematics and OEM specifications to complete work to a high standard.
• Maintain accurate service records, diagnostic results and maintenance documentation.
• Work closely with technicians and operational teams to minimise downtime.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability and safety.

Required profile

• Relevant heavy diesel or mobile plant mechanical trade qualifications.
• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, service manuals and equipment specifications.
• Proactive approach to safety, teamwork and problem-solving; strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Able to meet Queensland coal mining medical and induction requirements.

Required skills

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Highly regarded: experience with Komatsu 930E haul trucks, WA1200 loaders or large excavators, previous OEM training or experience, and Queensland coal mining qualifications including Standard 11.
