Health, Safety and Environment Manager

About the role

Journey Beyond, an experiential tourism business, has created a new Rail and Touring Division and is looking for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager. As a member of the Touring Leadership Team, you will shape and drive the safety strategy, strengthen HSE systems and foster a proactive safety culture across Touring operations in Australia and New Zealand. The role is hybrid and can be based in Adelaide or Melbourne, with travel across Australia as required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE systems, policies and procedures across Touring operations
• Drive a positive safety culture through leadership coaching, engagement and practical HSE initiatives
• Advise on risk management, regulatory compliance and operational safety
• Oversee incident investigations, audits, inspections and corrective actions
• Manage HSE assurance processes for contractors and third-party operators
• Analyse safety performance and trends and report to inform strategic decisions
• Build relationships with operational leaders, regulatory bodies and key stakeholders

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Work Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Business Management or equivalent experience
• At least five years' experience in a comparable HSE role, ideally in tourism, transport or a similar complex environment
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and heavy vehicle regulatory requirements; NZ legislative experience highly regarded
• Demonstrated experience in safety management systems, risk management, incident investigations and HSE assurance
• Ability to engage, coach and influence stakeholders at all levels
