Health Care Worker Traineeship (Aged Care)

About the role

Mallee Track Health and Community Service is recruiting a Health Care Worker for its Residential Aged Care department in Ouyen. The worker is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides quality nursing care within the scope of their education, competencies and skills, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, to meet the personal care needs of customers. The role is open to full-time or part-time applicants and includes a traineeship with enrolment in a Certificate III in Individual Support, with training costs covered and protected study time.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and evaluate care for all residents
• Assist with showering, dressing, toileting, grooming and leisure activities while maintaining dignity and privacy
• Provide companionship and emotional support
• Promote positive relationships between residents, relatives and staff
• Work with nurses, doctors and other health professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Keep accurate records of care plans and report safety issues
• Follow organisational policies, maintain confidentiality and complete mandatory training

Required profile

• Certificate III in Individual Support or willingness to obtain it
• Proven ability to apply high ethical standards and represent the organisation professionally
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Knowledge of the special needs of older people and of personal care tasks
• Relevant experience for the position
• Current Victorian driver's licence and police check; Working With Children Check required for nominated positions
