Head Veterinary Nurse

About the role

Greencross Vets Richlands is seeking an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to lead a growing team in a modern, purpose‑built clinic. You will mentor staff, maintain high clinical standards, and remain hands‑on in all aspects of veterinary nursing.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support the veterinary nursing team, including mentoring and training.
• Provide surgical nursing, anaesthetic monitoring, pathology, and hospital nursing.
• Assist veterinarians in consultations, treatments and procedures.
• Handle emergency and critical care nursing as required.
• Maintain stock, inventory and equipment maintenance.
• Support workflow efficiency and undertake administrative duties when needed.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
• Minimum 3 + years clinical veterinary nursing experience.
• Leadership or senior nursing experience, or readiness to step into a leadership role.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and communication skills.
• Calm, friendly, empathetic and professional demeanor.

Required skills

• Surgical nursing and anaesthetic monitoring.
• Experience with RxWorks (desirable).
