Head of Training and Checking – Rotary Wing

About the role
Lead the Training & Checking function for Queensland Government Air’s rotary‑wing fleet, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant delivery of all training programmes. You will maintain the highest standards of currency and proficiency, conduct training and testing, and support licence and rating issuance or renewal in line with QGAir and CASA requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the design, delivery and assessment of all rotary‑wing training and checking activities.
- Ensure compliance with QGAir policies and Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) regulations.
- Conduct practical training, examinations and proficiency checks for pilots.
- Support the issuance, renewal and amendment of licences and ratings.
- Maintain training records, currency logs and performance metrics.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the training team.
Required profile
- Current Australian Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
- Flight Examiner Rating (FER) and Flight Instructor Rating (FIR) – Multi‑Engine or equivalent military qualification.
- Low Level Rating, Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Rating, Multi‑Engine Command Instrument Rating – 5 renewals.
- Minimum 2,500 total flight hours, including specific PIC and night hour thresholds.
- Valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and Class 1 Aviation Medical.
- Extensive knowledge of CASA regulations.
