Head of Technology

About the role

A well-established Australian business with an internal technology function supporting day-to-day operations and growth is looking for a Head of Technology. The role takes ownership of the full technology remit and makes it work as one function, covering operations, business systems, software delivery, infrastructure, data platforms, vendors and technology risk, with direct exposure to the executives making business decisions. It can be based in Perth or Melbourne.

Key responsibilities

• Set technology direction: define a clear roadmap, establish priorities and build the investment case for the wider business
• Own operations and platforms: service delivery, infrastructure, cloud, business systems and vendor relationships
• Lead software and data: development and data capability, connecting the roadmap to business outcomes
• Strengthen technology risk, security readiness, governance and controls
• Lead an established technology team, develop the leaders beneath you and set a clear standard across operations and delivery

Required profile

• Experience leading a broad technology function across operations, systems and delivery
• Commercial acumen, with a track record of turning technical choices into a clear case for investment, cost, risk or growth
• Executive presence and judgement to advise senior leaders on changing roadmaps or priorities
• Experience leading internal teams and external partners through a varied programme of work

Required skills

• Technical depth across Microsoft cloud (Microsoft 365, Azure, Defender, Entra ID), software development, integration, data and technology risk
• PHP development, APIs and webhooks supporting the software estate

What we offer

• Salary of $220,000 to $260,000 plus superannuation for a permanent, full-time appointment
• Broad leadership mandate across the whole technology function, with an established team across service delivery and development
