Head of Finance - Global Fintech

About the role

The Head of Finance will own the entire finance function for a fast‑growing global fintech, reporting directly to senior leadership and the Board. Based in Sydney with a hybrid schedule, the role blends hands‑on financial control with strategic commercial analysis to support investment, pricing and growth decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of finance, building capability, controls and operating rhythm to support rapid growth.
• Deliver accurate, timely management and Board reporting, analysing performance against budget and forecast.
• Lead group financial control across general ledger, payments, payroll, reconciliations, cash and banking.
• Manage annual accounts, statutory reporting, tax obligations, R&D claims and auditor relationships.
• Build and maintain budgets, forecasts and financial models reflecting commercial performance.
• Advise on client contract structures, pricing and margins for subscription and project‑based revenue.
• Support fundraising, investor reporting and financial due diligence.
• Improve visibility of unit economics and provide decision‑ready insight to senior leaders.
• Mentor and develop the Corporate Accountant, expanding the team as the business scales.
• Strengthen finance systems, processes and governance across Australia, the UK and Ireland.

Required profile

• Extensive finance leadership experience, preferably in technology, software or professional services.
• Qualified accountant (CA, CPA or equivalent) with a degree.
• Senior‑level exposure to CEOs, executive teams or Boards.
• Experience in mixed‑revenue models (SaaS subscription and project‑based services).
• Strong knowledge of revenue recognition, work‑in‑progress and margin analysis.
• Proven ability to manage reporting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
