Head of Collections

About the role

This senior leadership position reports directly to the CFO of a fast‑growing consumer lending and auto‑finance organisation. The Head of Collections will own the health and strategic direction of a secured‑loan portfolio, balancing commercial performance with compliance and customer fairness.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee end‑to‑end portfolio performance, including arrears, hardship, recoveries and loss mitigation.
• Lead, develop and mentor high‑performing teams across collections, customer relations and recoveries.
• Establish clear operating rhythms such as one‑on‑ones, performance reviews and workflow management.
• Provide hands‑on support for complex cases, including disputes, repossessions and legal recoveries.
• Analyse portfolio trends and launch strategic initiatives to improve performance and reduce risk.
• Collaborate with executive stakeholders to align commercial outcomes, regulatory compliance and customer fairness.
• Identify capability gaps and deliver targeted coaching, training and development plans.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in collections, portfolio management or credit risk within financial services.
• Proven track record of driving portfolio performance and managing complex recovery cases.
• Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance risk, compliance and customer outcomes.
• Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams.
• Excellent analytical and decision‑making capabilities.
